Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, just do it.

On a personal level, I have no inclination to accept any of the characters, out of the band of clueless cabal, on the rulership map of our nation, Nigeria. And I should also make it clear that I’ve no expectation whatsoever that the acting president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, can be an exception in a pack of wolves that rule in Nigeria. A man who consulted the likes of Obasanjo and Danjuma early in his ride in the presidency cannot but fail in the steering of the state affairs. Moreover, Goodluck Jonathan is a product of selection by the same cabal.

The intrigues as projected below are for such a time as the PDP remains the albatross around the neck of the political progress of Nigeria. This subsists, until such a time as we can fix the project Nigeria, through an accountable voting process, until such a time as Nigerians can muster enough courage to say enough is enough, and push the cabal (both within and out of PDP) out.

For the time as now, as things stand, we have to project and see a possibility of speeding the change we require. Remember that the hasty and stubborn hunger for power by Atiku Abubakar truncated the third-term ambition of Obasanjo.

In the year 2006, Obasanjo manipulated the constitution of the PDP to make provision for the outgoing president to be the head of the party’s board of trustees. And he came out of the presidency to head the office he provided for himself ahead of time, by changing the rules of the game in the middle of play.

In the case of acting president Goodluck Jonathan, not to manipulate the PDP zoning option, as things stand, is to commit political suicide. As the vice president under President Yar’dua, by Nigerian political maneuvering, it is an expected conclusion that had the president been well enough to complete his eight years of two terms, he would have been the obvious choice of the PDP when the zoning machine beams its light on the southern pole again in 2015.

As things stand, if Goodluck Jonathan does nothing by way of being smart and changing the rule, and unless there come up another abracadabra comes from the hood of the PDP, it will be more than impossible for the political career of Goodluck not to be sacrificed on the altar of the ill-health of President Yar’Adua.

The option, as is coming out of the grapevine, is the arrangement of having Goodluck Jonathan run alongside Atiku Abubakar as running mate. The danger in such a gamble to Goodluck Jonathan is predicated on the possibility of Atiku not emerging as the PDP flagbearer. If that scenario plays itself out, it's bye-bye to the young political journey of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Let Goodluck Jonathan be wise and not fly with a droning man, who wants to take someone, anyone, along with him to the base of the sea.

Therefore, since the PDP is a barrel of bunches of manipulators and fixers, and since the acting president is already dining with the arrows of the demons in the ruling party. It’s to the advantage of his political profession to put woods in the works at all levels of the PDP to ensure that the gentleman's agreement of zoning is set aside and pave the way for him to be a candidate in the PDP primary.

One or two hindrances can be discerned on his way, one is over overblotted IBB meaning in the Nigerian political arena, two is the return of Drifter Atiku to PDP. As things stand right now, he can easily dispel with the irritant call IBB with the freshly found pages of the ever-disappearing and reappearing Pius Okigbo panel of inquiry report on the disappeared windfall on oil revenue during the Gulf War. Moreover, if Mr. acting president can locate a couple of dipping the hands in the wrong dishes of OBJ, OBJ can rub his palm with more of the disappeared items in the dirty kitchen of IBB, which he thought were dead and buried by the agreement he signed with OBJ to sign off his presidential ambition in 2007. While Atiku aura in the PDP has of his prostituting spirit, courtesy of greed and uncontrolled ambition, nose dive beyond management. Scrutiny of his picture in the presence of the acting president on the entourage of Wakili of Adamawa to the presidency reveals a man who is politically lost in the scheme of things. Hence, with study and tactics, the acting president, in aid of the fixers in the PDP, can easily find a place for both Atiku and IBB out of the presidency.

The others who will rear their heads for the high office, Goodluck Jonathan, should be prepared to pacify with juice contract and mouth-watering promises, which are the reasons why they were in the race at the coming of every general election.

Let it be clear that this brief is for their Nigeria, the Nigeria of the clueless cabal, where personal interest supersedes national interest. Their Nigeria where manipulation is a noble game and corruption is a way of life.

In our Nigeria, the Nigeria of our dream, wish, and will, is a country to be populated by men of patriotic zeal. Not of men like IBB, whose only credential to rule Nigeria is that he fought to keep Nigeria as one country. A man of short memory is IBB of the 50-room’ hilltop mansion, wishing to wipe out our memory of him, of the father, godfather, and grand patron of corruption in Nigeria.

Back to the zoning option, no nation or group of people, with a strong will to grow, will encourage a principle as zoning, as it sacrifices the spirit of effective competition, which allows the selection of the right and the best among equals. So the prayer of this discussion is that Goodluck Jonathan be man enough to rewrite the wrongly written gentleman's agreement that the cabal of clueless cluster in the PDP imposes on the nation. An obvious inconvenience of the principle of zoning becomes apparent when the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Yar’Adua, sneaked out of the country to Saudi Arabia for health reasons. And the principle of zoning left in our hands a dilemma as to how to make the vice president the president when the time of the northern zone has not been fully utilized. Irrespective of the backdoor arrangement hatched by the legislator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the debacle of the sudden demise or impeachment of a sitting president based on the PDP zoning principle has not been fully resolved.

My humble submission regarding the political destiny of the acting president, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, and the hindrance on his path courtesy of PDP zoning option is for him to place his ambition above the self-serving zoning principle of his party and get rid of the merit killer called the zoning agenda of the PDP. To pass over this seeming hurdle, Goodluck Jonathan will have to play hardball and emerge as the presidential candidate of his party.

The acting president needs to awaken his inner power as a surge of hunger, to give him the strength and a ready wit to repress the antic of maunder as IBB, Atiku, and the likes of them in a cabal that has taken it upon itself to direct the destiny of Nigeria. This advice has become necessary because, as it stands, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan has not, by any stretch of imagination, proved to be prepared to face the obstacle that PDP and its stronghold can place on his trajectory.

Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. acting president, would have to come out of his hiding and prove to Nigerians and the world at large that his gentility is not born of diffidence. A word as said, I heard it is enough for the wise.
